Practicum Students

We are excited to offer a practicum placement for students interested in policy, research, and the intersections of social work, legal, and health systems. This placement provides an opportunity to engage with anti-oppressive practice, anti-racist, and abolitionist frameworks in real-world contexts. As a practicum student with us, you will have the chance to contribute to meaningful projects and initiatives that directly impact families impacted by the child welfare system. 
 
Responsibilities and Learning Opportunities:
  • Assist in the development and dissemination of PLEI resources on child welfare legislation and Children’s Services policies. 
  • Support educational workshops and capacity-building trainings for parents, mandated reporters, and community advocates. 
  • Conduct research on relevant policy issues and contribute to policy analysis and advocacy efforts. 
  • Engage with diverse stakeholders, including families, community organizations, and government agencies. 
  • Explore the application of anti-oppressive, anti-racist, abolitionist frameworks in practice and policy. 
We welcome applications from social work students, as well as students in social sciences and other relevant areas.

How you can help:
  • Manage our social media channels and create engaging content.  
  • Assist with writing compelling blog posts, newsletters, and press releases.  Design graphics, infographics, and promotional materials.  
  • Support outreach and fundraising initiatives through targeted marketing campaigns.
