Community Legal Education
Strengthening the eco-system of support for families dealing with Child & Family Services (CFS).
Our Community Legal Education Program is designed to equip professionals with the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed to advocate effectively for families who interact with Child and Family Services (CFS). We believe that transformative legal education can serve as a powerful preventative measure, reducing the likelihood of families entering the child welfare system.
Our resources are developed in collaboration with parents who have lived experience, ensuring that they reflect the real-world challenges and perspectives of those navigating the system. Grounded in anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed principles, our approach seeks to dismantle systemic barriers while addressing underlying root causes.
We advocate for approaches that prioritize family preservation over intrusive interventions and unnecessary family separations, recognizing the profound impact these decisions have on the entire family. Together, we can work towards a future where families receive the support they need to thrive, and where the trauma of unnecessary system involvement is minimized.
