Community Legal Education

Strengthening the eco-system of support for families dealing with Child & Family Services (CFS).

Our Community Legal Education Program (CLEP) empowers professionals with the knowledge, confidence, and skills to advocate effectively for families interacting with Child and Family Services (CFS). Our workshops and resources offer practical strategies to enhance professionals’ capacity to support and advocate for families within the child welfare system. Developed in collaboration with parents with lived experience, our learning materials reflect the authentic perspectives of those directly impacted by the system.

Through transformative learning opportunities, we seek to build individual and community knowledge, empower parents, keep families together, and strengthen the support ecosystem. We emphasize education as a preventative measure and advocate for family preservation, aiming to minimize unnecessary interventions and system involvement.

We are passionate about fostering collaboration and cultivating a community of professionals and service providers dedicated to the well-being of families. Together, let's work towards a future where families receive the support they need to thrive, and the trauma of unnecessary system involvement is minimized.Read below to learn more about our learning opportunities.

I had the opportunity to work with FASC with a woman experiencing many barriers during her Children’s Services involvement. Rebecca and her team were able to provide critical additional support I had the opportunity to work with FASC with a woman experiencing many barriers during her Children’s Services involvement. Rebecca and her team were able to provide critical additional supports that we were unable to. If FASC was not involved, the women’s case would likely not have improved. The FASC fills a critical gap within Calgary’s social-supporting sector.
