About the event
Parents dealing with CFS are often experiencing multiple barriers while navigating intersecting oppressive systems. This is particularly true for Indigenous, Black, and low-income families who meet multiple barriers to well-being, contrubiting to health and racial disparities and higher termination rates of parental rights. This session is meant to provide knowledge and practical skills that enhance professionals’ ability to support parents dealing with an CFS investigation or an open file using an anti-racist and anti-oppressive approaches to care. Parent stories with lived experience are integrated to provide critical understanding from the parent lens and emphasize building advocacy and system navigation skills to minimize the level of intervention and decrease the likelihood of family separation.
