About the event
Low-income families with mental health and substance use challenges are more vulnerable to over-surveillance and over-reporting to child welfare agencies. This training will provide staff with a comprehensive learning experience that centers racial and health equity for families structurally vulnerable to intrusive intervention and family separation. To bridge the knowledge gap related to intergenerational consequences of substance use stigma and CS legislation and policies, our facilitators equip organizations with insights, tools, and resources to best support families dealing with CS or those “at risk” of involvement. We engage participants using evidence base research, storytelling, and case studies to equip them to effectively disrupt stigma, prevent systemic harm, and ensure the health, healing and well-being of intergenerational cycles of families. Throughout the session we guide participants in self-reflection on ways to sustain themselves and prioritize their mental health and wellbeing.
